Windows 11 26H1 troubleshooting should start with your exact build, edition, device model, and the current Microsoft release-health status. Separate device-focused release; do not assume all earlier Windows 11 PCs can upgrade to it.
Protect your files first
Back up important files when possible. If the drive is encrypted, locate the BitLocker recovery key before recovery changes. Stop if storage appears to be failing or this is a work or school managed PC.
Identify your build
Run winver and record the build and edition. Check Microsoft release information and the PC maker’s support page. A code observed on one release does not establish that the same workaround applies to this build. This release targets a distinct device family; do not present it as a standard in-place upgrade for every earlier Windows 11 PC.
Check an error safely
Record the exact code and the update or driver change that preceded it. If Windows still starts, protect files and check update history. If it does not, use Windows RE only after checking backup and BitLocker recovery-key access.
Known issues
Release-health status can change. Open the official Microsoft page for the current issue list and its affected platforms; do not assume an older KB or workaround still applies.
Keep track of your checks
This checklist stays in this browser session. It is not sent to WinErrors.
