Windows 10 Errors After End of Support

Windows 10 general support ended on Oct. 14, 2025. Some devices may qualify for Extended Security Updates, but an old Windows 10 fix should not be copied to Windows 11 without checking its scope.

Protect your files first

Back up important files when possible. If the drive is encrypted, locate the BitLocker recovery key before recovery changes. Stop if storage appears to be failing or this is a work or school managed PC.

What end of support changes

A PC can still run Windows 10, but routine free security support ended. Check Microsoft’s current ESU and upgrade guidance for your edition and eligibility. A crash code still needs its own context and safe troubleshooting.

If Windows 10 crashes

Record the exact stop code and whether the PC boots. Protect files, use the relevant Microsoft support steps, and ask the OEM about hardware compatibility if an upgrade is being considered.

Keep track of your checks

This checklist stays in this browser session. It is not sent to WinErrors.
