An Automatic Repair loop means Windows repeatedly enters recovery or cannot finish startup. The screen alone does not reveal whether files, boot configuration, drivers, or hardware are responsible.
Protect your files first
Back up important files when possible. If the drive is encrypted, locate the BitLocker recovery key before recovery changes. Stop if storage appears to be failing or this is a work or school managed PC.
What to record
Exact repair message, whether the drive appears in firmware, recent updates, and BitLocker recovery status.
The exact message, Windows version, and whether the desktop still opens matter more than a guess based on the symptom name.
Try these safer checks
From Windows RE, inspect available recovery options and try Startup Repair once if appropriate. If it reports failure, keep the report and check backup and recovery-key access before more invasive actions.
Change one thing at a time. After each check, see whether the same symptom returns and write down what changed.
When to stop and get help
Stop if the drive disappears or important files have no backup. A reset can remove apps and can still fail.
If this is a work or school device, contact its administrator before changing managed settings.
Keep track of your checks
